U.S.D.A Commodities

God is still in control.  The Volunteer Way Food Bank will start receiving U.S.D.A. Commodities in June.  It has been a long struggle and now our food pantries and soup kitchen will be receiving their share of commodities.  Keep Suncoast Food Bank and The Volunteer Way Food Bank in prayer that this will open a new door of working together for the betterment of the needy of Florida.

When people pull together, they can do so much more then when they are pulling in opposite directions.  I believe we can work together and help more nutritionally-challenged people to have a piece of the American dream.

“IT’S ALL ABOUT FEEDING HUNGRY PEOPLE”

We have found new sources of food

The two new sources of canned goods are now in place and we can start to receive canned goods.  The problem we have is the high cost of fuel has driven up the cost of shipping the free food to us.  This food is coming from Pennsylvania and the Midwest and each truck load of food will cost us $ 4,000.00.  We need at least two truck loads a week to serve the many ministries that partner with us throughout Florida.  Each truck would bring us between 35,000 to 42,000 pounds of food.  We need to reach out to our local business community and ask them to support one truckload.  I believe our business community will rally around The Volunteer Way to partner with us in making sure no child, senior or working poor goes to bed hungry.  We also have other possible sources of canned goods that we will be meeting with shortly.
