We are desperately in need of more space for: 1. Handling the constantly increasing number of people we serve 2. Collecting, storing, and shelving of all our food sources and 3. The overwhelming amount of traffic and congested parking that occurs on a daily basis. The Volunteer Way assists over 20,000 families each month with food, personal items, and an encouraging word. We can no longer successfully serve this many families using our current warehouse.
Our present location is much too small and crowded and we do not have enough parking to accommodate the numbers of people and organizations that come to our facility for assistance every day. These conditions create daily traffic jams on Congress Street for our facility and for our neighboring businesses. If you remember, we were donated 6.89 acres of property, which is now home to our Hydroponics Garden. We are in the process of obtaining our permits to build our new Food Bank. We will be building our 10,000 square foot building and warehouse on this site. This new facility will allow us to better serve the ever growing demand for assistance to people caught in poverty.
