Recent reports indicate that we will be experiencing the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Our families, children and elderly feel powerless and are suffering the most. We have seen children and their parents, sleeping in the woods or in their vehicles. This is totally unacceptable and very unsafe for the mothers and their children. Things will get a lot worse, before they start to get better. We need our community to work together to make sure no child or elderly person goes hungry or is sleeping in the woods. The Volunteer Way Inc. has launched "We Care", we are calling on all Americans, of every background, to take responsibility for our communities by engaging in helping our less fortunate. Only one in four Americans overall currently volunteers. If we increase that number, the impact on our communities would be staggering. Everyone can do something, have a food drive at work or in your neighborhood, volunteer, donate funds and food, we all can do something! "You" can do something! For every $10.00 donated, we can receive 100 pounds of food for the hungry families we assist. The Volunteer Way is rolling up their sleeves, stretching every dollar, and doing their part to build a culture of service that lasts long beyond one particular need. It's going to take all of us, working together, to make a difference for the less fortunate children and families. I'm calling on all of you to make volunteerism and community service a part of your daily life and the life of our communities. To make it easy for you to get involved, The Volunteer Way created a secure website at www.thevolunteerway.org, where you can donate or you can send your information or you can request to volunteer.
