The Volunteer Way needs your help at the Second Canstruction Build/Design Competition

HAVE FUN AND FEEL GREAT ABOUT HELPING YOUR COMMUNITY

The Volunteer Way needs extra help this year from everyone in our community that wants to make a difference in the lives of people in need.  Hunger is a terrible thing to happen to any person.  It is devastating for a mother or father to know that they are not able to provide food for their children or themselves. Would you want your elderly mother or father, who is not capable of caring for themselves, to do without the most basic human need?We know that our community cares and we know that they CAN make a difference in people's lives.

Canstruction® is a fun food drive that allows participation from individuals as well as groups of engineers and architects. Canstruction® will take place at the Hilton Homewood Suites, 11113 US Hwy 19 North, Port Richey, from April 26 through May 2, 2009.

Last year we had 4 teams of participants and so far this year the organizations that have stepped up to the challenge are Clark engineers, Pasco Jazercise and St Petersburg College. We need more teams. We understand that the construction industry has had a lot of lay offs and money is tight but we need students, engineers, architects, and retirees to get involved, have some fun and help their community at the same time. You can create your own team or help sponsor another team by providing money or canned food.  We sincerely invite you to become involved in this important event, either as a sponsor or just a community member with a desire to help.

Sponsors of Canstruction® will find that this is the perfect place to promote your business, products or services. This event brings professionals from the design, construction and engineering communities together to serve as a catalyst for public awareness and help stimulate involvement in helping the less fortunate in our society. Teams build and design one-of-a-kind structures from nonperishable canned goods. The general public can vote for their favorite structure by donating one dollar or one can of food.  The winner will receive the People's Choice Award.

At the conclusion of the competition, all food items will be donated to The Volunteer Way Food Bank. The Volunteer Way is a charitable organization based in Pasco County that assists more than 17,000 families free of any charges or fees.
