THE VOLUNTEER WAY FOOD BANK IS COMMITTED TO FEEDING THE HUNGRY!
Has your child ever asked you for something to eat and there was nothing in your cupboards? Friends against hunger, this is happening right now in your neighborhoods. Why is it so difficult for people of good faith to work together to solve hunger? Is it that we want all the credit for helping the needy for ourselves? Is it that we want full control over the hunger relief outreaches? Or do we want all the funds for higher salaries? When you put it in writing it seems so selfish and self defeating. Trust me, we will never run out of people in poverty to help. There are enough people in poverty for every "do gooder". By working together we would be able to share our resources and knowledge, which would allow us to serve twice as many people.
"WHAT A NOVEL IDEA, working together".
The Volunteer Way is committed to working with any hunger relief charity whose main mission is to help the less fortunate of our society. We will share our knowledge and resources to help any hunger relief organization that wants to serve the less fortunate of their communities.
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
We need to start thinking of new, creative ideas to solve our problems of food shortages. We cannot keep doing things they way we have for the past thirty years. Times have changed and if we are going to survive, we better start changing with the times. We no longer can depend on the government to feed the hungry of our society, that is not their job. Feeding people caught in poverty is the responsibility of the Faith Based community. If we put our heads together and work together, we would be able to make sure no child goes to bed hungry. Doesn't that seem so simple and easy to do, (working together), well why aren't we doing it?
We challenge faith based and secular charities to work together for the common good. We do not have to lose our identity as faith based or secular charities, we just have to think of the people we are trying to help and put them FIRST.
WHAT ABOUT "VICTORY GARDENS"?
I know this may give you the insight to my age, but for those of you who grew up in the 1930's will remember the Victory Gardens. This country is made up of good, caring people; it is just that some times we get caught up in the fast pace we are living in today. We can do anything we set our minds to and that includes working together to solve the hunger problem in Florida.
Hydroponics gardens give us an opportunity to grow food on our patios, back yard or just about any place you have a few square feet available. This would take a minimum amount of time and help a lot of people. We started a Hydroponics Farm in the rear of our property that will help us to give our consumers a lot of nutritional food. We also will start a hydroponics farm on the 6.8 acreas that was donated to The Volunteer Way Food Bank.
