A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL

Thanksgiving is a time that we should all be thankful for all we received during the year.  Now that I am getting older (in my 70s), I wake up with aches and pains.  I am thankful that I was able to get up and do my volunteer work. I thank God every day for allowing me to volunteer in The Volunteer Way Food Bank (TVW).  TVW assists 5,917 families in Pasco with food to supplement their food budgets.  Many people in their 70s have a very difficult time getting out of bed every day, yet I am up at 5:00 A.M. every morning and at TVW by 6:00 A.M.  It gives me a lot of pleasure when I look into the face of a low-income mother coming to us for food to feed her family and when they receive their food, you can see the grateful expression in their faces.  I pray that God allows me to serve less fortunate people for years to come.

The Volunteer Way partnered with many local community and business leaders to feed 250 people a hot Turkey Dinner on saturday November 17, 2007.  We had pony rides, face painting, moon walk and a large slide for the young at heart.  Each family received a 5 pound Hersey Bar and toys that were donated by Operation Blessing located in Virginia.

Pasco County's communities came together to partner with The Volunteer Way Food bank to help less fortunate people of Pasco, we had 45 adult and young people volunteering to make this event a success.  We also had some funds left over that were donated
for this event, so we purchased Publix's gift cards and gave them to larger families to purchase food for their families.

We would like to list all the names of the volunteers and donors that made this great event possible, but we are limited by space.  MANY, MANY, MANY THANKS TO ALL THOSE WONDERFUL PEOPLE THAT DID THEIR PART THIS THANKSGIVING.

All the volunteers put in a long day at TVW's Turkey Dinner.  The volunteers had Tee Shirts on that looked like a Tuxedo.  Each guest was treated like Kings and Queens and it was a very special day for the children.  After the dinner every volunteer stayed to help clean up, which made the clean up go very quickly.  The building was donated by First Assembly of God.

We need volunteers for Kids Against Hunger food drives.
