NEW SOURCES OF FOOD
We have found new sources of food to bring into Florida to serve the many hungry families.
In July we received a truck load of meat and a truck load of chicken, which may become a regular source. Many Florida
low-income families and their children went to bed with good nutritional food in their stomachs. It has been a long
time since we received meat to pass out to our food pantries and soup kitchens. This will be a Blessing to the 15,000
families we assist with food each month. We have also applied for several grants, which will allow us to open new areas
of Florida. Our only purpose is to help people to be the most they can be and to make sure our children, their families
and the elderly have enough to eat to maintain a healthy life.
WE NEED DRIVERS TO DELIVER FOOD TO OUR ELDERLY IN PASCO COUNTY!
We are in need of drivers to deliver food once a month to our low-income homebound elderly.
Every week we receive requests from low-income elderly for food assistance. We have the food but we do not have enough
drivers to deliver the food boxes. While delivering the food we stop and talk with our seniors and make them feel that
there are people that care about them. The elderly that we serve are low-income and homebound and many times they don’t
see a live persons to talk with for weeks, if not longer. These volunteer positions are the most rewarding because you
are helping people that do not have the option to leave their homes or to start over.
FOOD DRIVE TO FEED THE HUNGRY OF PASCO COUNTY!
We have started food drives called “KIDS AGAINST HUNGER”
throughout West Pasco County to be able to better serve the 5,000 families we have signed up to pick up boxes of food from
our food bank. We do not receive any food from the mail carriers food drive so we decided to start our own food drives.
We are the only food bank in Pasco County that gives all our food free of any costs to food pantries, soup kitchens and low-income
families. We have made twelve zones in West Pasco County so that we will only have a food drive once a year in each
zone; this way we will not be asking the same communities for help. All food we collect will be distributed in Pasco
County. This will also get our communities familiar with what The Volunteer Way does for the less fortunate of Pasco
county.
HELP US, TO HELP OTHERS
Please contact us if you would like to help the less fortunate of your community.
You could be a block captain in your community, have a food drive at your place of business and donate the food to The Volunteer
Way Food Bank.
