BENEFITS OF FOOD DONATION

Reaping The Harvest is one of The Volunteer Way's programs that recycles good nutritional food from supermarkets, restaurants and other food handling businesses. Last year we recycled over 1,100,000 pounds of food and got that food on the tables of the nutritionally challenged.

For the first time in history it is possible to end hunger. Our farms, livestock and oceans produce enough food to feed most of the world and we throw enough food in the dumpster to feed all our hungry people in the United States. Yet we have children, homeless, working poor and elderly going to bed hungry every night here in the United States while we put good nutritional food in the dumpster.

"LET'S KEEP GOOD NUTRITIONAL FOOD OUT OF THE DUMPSTER"

Hunger is a completely preventable condition. Hunger stunts the growth and health of our youth and cripples the ability of our senior adults to contribute to our society and lead independent lives. Ending hunger is an idea whose time has come.

Reducing food waste through donating will reduce disposal cost!

At this time supermarkets, restaurants, farmers, meat producers and other food businesses are throwing millions of pounds of food in the dumpster  every day. Reaping The Harvest contacts these businesses and recycles their food and places this recycled food on the tables of the most needy people. When you go shopping at the supermarket, make sure you ask them to recycle their food to help the needy of their community.

Thank You Publix Supermarkets For Caring.
